- Draft #3
- Sent it off to my committee and set up a date for my defense.
- KFC
- I went to KFC after class for an unhealthy food celebration. Carolyn had called and I missed it, so I waited there for her to call back. After a long while I took the phone with me to the bathroom but somehow missed her call again. Luckily she tried one more time later and I finally got a chance to talk to her and know that she was ok.
- Ran: This was a wonderful Japanese adaptation of King Lear by Kurosawa.

- Got a New Pen
- I don’t remember if I was looking for a pen or if I went to look at other office supplies, but I decided on a G2 .5mm. I think I like it a lot.

- Saw Place
- I got to see one of the apartments Hubert and I were interested in. I liked it a lot and when Hubert saw the pictures he said he liked it too, so we decided to go ahead and get it.

- Premonition: This was a Japanese horror film about people who see terrible things that are going to happen in the future, and it was a really good example of how Japanese horror films are better than American ones.

- Party at Cathryn’s
- Had a good time, even though there was that “what is this old guy doing here” tension. Played some Apples to Apples, met a new American studies guy doing work on globalization and East Asia, and found out about some Bukowski videos on Google. I was also amused by these young black girls in the neighborhood who said they were going to come in and dance to one of their CDs, but they ended up spending a lot of time on MySpace.

- Class: Magic and prayer.
- Panera: Saw a really young girl with one of those “You have died of dysentery” t-shirts.
- Nap
- Fear and Trembling: This movie is about a Belgian woman’s office mishaps in Japan, and it’s super great.
- Wisconsin Party: Liz had a party for the love of her state, and it was interesting to see the rituals associated with it and how people carried it as part of their identity.

- Class: “Nation building is a blueprint for ethnocide at best and genocide at worst.”
- SAGSO Meeting: We talked about orientation and how tight office space is going to be.
- Franklin Park II: We called a few places to make sure this was the best, but we weren’t able to get in touch with anyone when we went over.
- TV: Hubert and I watched an incredible amount of television, including the season premiere of America’s Got Talent where the judging and most of the acts were horrible.
